The Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) will soon be holding talks with Ijaw youths, as well as traditional rulers in Nembe, Brass and Andoni Local Government Areas (LGA) of Bayelsa and Rivers states respectively.
BNYL Deputy Leader of Ebuta Victor Takon disclosed this in a statement in which he reinstated the group’s commitment to take their struggle to the grassroots.
Takon said: “We specialise in grassroots campaign and mobilisation; we are everywhere in Biafra communities strengthening the struggle, only grassroots movement can ensure effective conduct of a referendum for Biafra.
“We have consulted widely especially from Southern Cameroon, Bakassi Peninsula, Akwa Cross region and in the Niger River Coast; and we are making huge progress.
“We shall begin to storm palaces of traditional rulers, getting them prepared for independence, the Congress with the Ijaw Youths and Obolo Youths has long been planned for.”
Takon, who did not disclose the date for the consultations, revealed that BNYL took part in the recently held All Biafra Conference in Ghana organised by the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS).
“We were part of that conference and our delegates were led by an Ikwere native of Rivers State,” the BNYL Deputy Leader said. “We support the conference resolutions. However, we are not against the groups that didn’t take part due to one reason or the other,” he added.
