The Nigerian Senate has received the final report on the Bill to Establish the North East Development Commission (NEDC), from its special committee on special duties.

The report, according to the President of the Senate, while speaking on it during the plenary session on Tuesday, contains the observations of a wide group of stakeholders on the modalities that should be considered in the set-up of the commission.

Saraki added that some of the areas that the assigned Committee still needs to go back and consider are the funding mechanisms that will be employed to make the NEDC a sustainable government commission, and the prospective location of the commission.

Additionally, the Senate also passed a Motion paying homage to Nigeria’s former National team coaches: Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu, saying that “both men were legends in their own rights, and they contributed immensely to the development of sports in Nigeria.”

In this regard, the Senate nominated a delegation to condole with the families of the deceased.
