A  human rights activist and Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, has said that it would not be easy for the present administration  to erase the memory annulment of June 12,1993 presidential election from the memory of Nigerians. He said that the June 12 presidential election has been the watershed in the political history of the country and genuine Democracy Day in Nigeria.
He accused President Buhari of planning to ensure that the memory of annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election was forgotten  by Nigerians  because Buhari was part of the government of late General Sanni Abacha as Chairman Petroleum Trust Funds (PTF). The administration incarcerated the acclaimed winner of the June 12 presidential election, Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola unjustly for almost four years, instead of restoration of Abiola’s mandate as agreed and unjust murdered of pro-democracy activists such as Abiola’s wife, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Pa Alfred Rewane, Alhaja Suliyat Adedeji, a seasoned journalist, Baguda Khalto, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua (rtd.) and a host of others.
The rights activist who added that many pro-democracy activists including; late human rights activist and social crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) late Dr. Beko Ransome kuti, Barrister Femi Falana (SAN) Barrister Femi Aborishade, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, late Chief Bola
Ige (SAN), Chief Olisha Agbakoba (SAN), Comrade Shehu Sanni (now Senator),Comrade Segun Mayegun, Barister Niyi Owolade, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, late Alhaji Lam Adesina, Comrade Ola Oni, late Afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Dr. (Mrs.) Joe Okei Odumakin,  and a host of others were clamped into military detention without trial  and  others went on self exile in the cause of the struggle for the restoration of democracy to the country.
He insisted that Buhari needs to be tutored on democratic ethos because the Military does not have democratic tenets in their lexicon rather, they engage in absolute violation of fundamental human rights, extra-judicial killings and opposition to the rule of law.
According to the statement signed by Comrade Sulaiman in commemoration of the annulment of the June 12,1993 presidential election was regarded as  the freest and fairest election in Nigeria but it was annulled by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
Sulaiman, who doubles as Chairman, Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS), cautioned the present administration of Buhari against militarisation of the country which is a systemic way of returning the nation into the despotic dark days of military era.
He also called for immediate recognition of the late M.K.O. Abiola as former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his immortalisation with national emoluments; saluting the courage of immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for renaming the University of Lagos after late MKO Abiola before the University Alumni approach the Court to restrain the then Federal Government on its action.
He therefore urged the Northern traditional rulers to call President Buhari to order on his government disobedience to Court orders and his disdain for constructive criticism.
