The Abia State Government under Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji “has done wonderful works in developing the state,” his spokesman Ugochukwu Emezue has said.

He was reacting to the claim that the Orji administration wasted N46.4 billion collected on behalf of the state’s oil communities in the state from 2007 to September 2012 and also has little to show for a total of about N350 billion received from the Nigerian Government during the same period. The claims published yesterday by News Express were first made by the Lagos newspaper, The SUPREME.

But defending his boss and the administration, Emezue told the paper: “I doubt your source, but if your source is correct, the governor has done wonderful works in developing the state.”

He insisted that oil producing establishments in the state “have a chairman and he is in charge of the funds for oil communities. Come to Abia State and see the wonderful development that is going on.”

The T. A. Orji administration is generally rated as one of the worst in Nigeria.
