The Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is to commence the refund of over N140 million to pilgrims who performed the holy journey in 2014 and 2015 Hajj this week.

The new Overseer of the Board, Imam Husaini Sulaiman Tsoho, made this known while briefing a committee set up to ensure disbursement of the funds to the affected pilgrims.

A statement issued on Sunday morning in Kaduna and signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi, said the money was sent to the board recently by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for services not rendered by the various service providers in the Holy Land during last year’s Hajj.

He said: “Each 2014 pilgrim will be paid N3,540, while 2015 pilgrims are to receive over N21,000 as part of refunds for transportation, feeding and other services not rendered to them during the Hajj periods.

“The affected pilgrims are to contact their registration officers for screening and are expected to go to their registration centres with ‎their International Passports that has 2014 or 2015 Hajj visa on it as the case may be as directed by NAHCON before being paid.”

The Overseer warned the registration officers to ensure all the affected pilgrims receive their refunds after full identification and urged the pilgrims to comply with the modalities of the payment for accountability and transparency.
