As the 2015/16 Nigeria Professional Football League goes on a two-week break, Rivers United (formerly Dolphins FC) have remained on top of the log despite suffering defeat this evening at Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

But with Enyimba yet to play their three outstanding matches and only four points adrift, the pendulum can swing during the break. Enyimba accumulated those matches while honouring their CAF Champions League fixtures. They are now in the group stage of the elite competition and will know their opponents when the draw is conducted in Cairo on Tuesday.

Kano Pillars are in second spot as a result of superior goal difference over Enugu Rangers, who have a game in hand (versus El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri). Both Pillars and Rangers are two points short of leaders Rivers United.

Wikki Tourists (4th) and Lobi Stars are separated by goal difference, while the hard-fought away victory throws Sunshine Stars three steps up to No 6.

Ikorodu United receive another bashing to be 10 points away from safety as two first half goals in Uyo further sink Shooting Stars in the drop zone.

WEEK 19 RESULTS:

Sunday: Plateau United 0-0 Kano Pillars, Warri Wolves 3-1 El-Kanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists 3-0 Ikorodu United, Abia Warriors 1-2 Sunshine Stars, Akwa United 2-0 Shooting Stars, Lobi Stars 1-0 Rivers United, FC IfeanyiUbah 2-0 Niger Tornadoes
