The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nollywood (ONN), has announced the appointment of Mr Donatus Chikezie as the new Chairman of Igbo Film Forum (IFF), a professional body of Igbo Language film makers.

The new chairman is charged with the responsibility of sustaining the on-going campaign on revitalisation of Igbo Language film industry. By this appointment, Chikezie will also serve as the director of the sole Igbo film festival in Africa, the Nollywood Igbo Film Festival and Awards (NIFA), an annual event designed to honour and celebrate film makers and movies made in Igbo Language.

This was contained in a statement signed by the President of the ONN, Eze Harris Chuma, and made available to News Express.

The IFF, as an institution, galvanises individual and organisational efforts towards  increasing more production of Igbo films, halting the decline in speaking Igbo language as well as the disturbing rise in westernisation of Igbo culture.

Chikezie, according to the statement, is also expected to work closely with other indigenous language film associations in Nollywood, with a view to ensuring that practitioners maintain a high level of professionalism.
