The lingering and crippling fuel scarcity in the country yesterday deprived many of the opportunity of fulfilling their religious obligation of attending Easter Sunday church service.

Both private car owners and commercial drivers were seen at filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, queuing in the hope of getting fuel.

One of them told News Express: “In a situation like this, you cannot expect me to go to church or celebrate the Easter at home. If I did not sleep here, my children will not eat nor drink. We can always celebrate at anytime. But the situation, I must confess, is hellish.”

Another, a commercial driver, lamented: “Since the day before yesterday, I have not slept in my room. I did not envisage this happening to me for the very first time of my life. You too see queue as long as rope. It is sad.”
