Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board commenced registration of intending pilgrims for this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia today in all the 23 local government areas.

A statement issued earlier in the day by the Assistant Director, Public Relations of the Board, Malam Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi, said that intending pilgrims are advised to present themselves at the registration centres because registration by proxy will not be allowed.

The statement added that intending pilgrims will pay a minimum deposit of N800,000  in a designated bank account, pending the announcement of hajj fares by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) .

The statement quoted the Director of Administration and Finance of the Board, Barrister Umar Mustapha Danraka, as warning that  intending females  pilgrims would only be registered when they come along with male guardians (Muharam) in line with the Saudi Arabian Government’s regulations.

Danraka, who addressed Local Government Registration Officers at the premises of the Pilgrims’ Board on Sunday, warned them to adhere strictly to the registration guidelines.

According to the guidelines, only new pilgrims will be registered, while pregnant women and old people who have nobody to accompany them will not be registered, Danraka reiterated.
