Thirty-four out of the 39 members of the Kano State House of Assembly members loyal to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Thursday impeached the Chief Whip, Zubairu Mahmud Madobi, and unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the incumbent governor.

The lawmakers said they impeached the Chief Whip over his failure to support the position of the state House of Assembly on the ongoing feud between the governor and ex-governor Kwankwaso.

A member of the Assembly, Honourable Ibrahim Ahmed Gama from Nassarawa constituency, raised the motion for the impeachment of the House Chief Whip.

The 34 lawmakers under the leadership of the Speaker, Honourable Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, who met on Thursday, agreed and reaffirmed their support to the administration of President Muhammad Buhari and Kano State Governor, Dr. Ganduje.

However, seven members of the Assembly who are loyal to Senator Kwankwaso were absent.

The 34 lawmakers who have also taken the first bold step by discarding the red cap that symbolises Kwankwaso’s ideology and asked people to stop promoting it.

The lawmakers had on Tuesday visited Government House and declared their support to Governor Ganduje and called on the state governor to drop the red cap. (Peoples Daily)
