Rivers Police arrests armed robbers, recover stolen vehicle

Men of the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command, responding to a distress call, yesterday arrested two armed robbers shortly after they snatched a vehicle in the state capital, Port Harcourt.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Ahmad K. Muhammad, “On Thursday at about 1:30 am the duo of suspected armed robbers namely Gabriel Samuel ‘m’ 27 years and Wokeko Samuel ‘m’ 31 years were arrested along Cherubim Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, following a distress call to the effect that they snatched at gun point a black Toyota Corolla with registration number ABM 473 AA. The vehicle was snatched from its owner during the early hours of the day at Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt.

“Two locally made revolver pistols and two rounds of .9mm live ammunition were recovered from them.

“The suspects during questioning confessed to have been members of a four-man armed robbery gang that terrorizes Ada George, Eagle Island and Rumuola axis of Port Harcourt.

Investigation continues.”
