Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi said on Thursday that he has no hands in the leadership crisis currently rocking the Kogi State House of Assembly.
This is contained in a statement issued in Lokoja by Mr Abdulkarim Abdulmalik, Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Governor, and made available to newsmen.
The governor described the allegations linking him to the crisis as spurious and unfounded, saying that he remains the governor of everybody in the state.
According to the statement, “the governor has never interfered in the affairs of the state legislature in line with his determination to promote the rule of law and strict adherence to the separation of power.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that five out of the 25 members of the Assembly impeached the speaker, Mr Momoh Jimoh Lawal and elected Umar Imam Alfa as the new Speaker. (NAN)
