Late last night we published a story entitled “Breaking News: 18 governors in attendance as Jang chairs NGF meeting •2 send apologies”.
The story was based on information given to us by our contacts at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), one of whom happens to be a media aide of one of the governors who attended the meeting.
Indications, however, are that we were misled. Further checks have showed that only 16 governors actually attended the meeting chaired by NGF factional chairman, Governor David Jang of Plateau State. Apart from the consistent testimony of others, we have arrived at this conclusion as the Jang faction has failed to provide the names of those in attendance at the meeting.
News Express wishes to apologise for the misleading report. We are neutral in the power struggle and therefore have no reason to skew our reports in favour of any of the factions. We’ll be more careful next time in handling materials from the Jang faction of the NGF. We thank you for your understanding.
