Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP Taraba South), has informed the upper chamber of the National Assembly that terrorists being dislodged by the military in Borno and Adamawa states were now relocating to Taraba State.

Senator Bwacha raised the alarm yesterday at Senate plenary under Point of Order 42, alleging that the terrorists used to disguise as herdsmen before being transported into the state in trailers.

According to him, raising the alarm over the movement of the terrorists into Taraba became necessary in order to alert the Federal Government to take immediate action to prevent impending unsavoury consequences.

He said that the insurgents already transported into the state could be seen mostly in the central area of the state, saying: “The regrouping of the insurgents from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in Taraba State as a disturbing and dangerous development that should be halted in the interest of the people of the state.

“The Federal Government and security agencies should know that they may have another war to fight in Taraba if nothing is done urgently to halt the regrouping of these insurgents in Taraba State.”

Senator Bwacha added that taking pre-emptive action against the infiltrators is imperative, especially now that the Boko Haram insurgents were being chased out of the country.

He said that some people mistake the infiltrators as herdsmen when they are actually terrorists disguised as herdsmen. Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, said that Bwacha informed him of his intention to raise the issue under Personal explanation provision in their order book.

Saraki, who did not allow any debate of the issue raised by the lawmaker, said that the Senate has taken note of the issue. (Nigerian Pilot)
