Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has assured that all the 25 roads currently being constructed by his administration in Aba would be completed this year.
Performing the inauguration of Owerri Road by Okigwe and Udeagbala Road rehabilitated by his government in Aba, Ikpeazu disclosed that a total or 47 roads were being handled simultaneously by his government in various parts of the state.
He also said that rehabilitation work will soon commence on the Ohanku, Ibere and Obohia roads, stressing that he was in government to serve the people.
Governor Ikpeazu called on Abians to remain calm over the Owerri Appeal Court verdict against him as nobody can steal his mandate but rather to support his administration to succeed.
Commissioner for Works, Hon. Eziuche Ubani, in his speech, assured of the durability of the rehabilitated roads done with the cement rigid pavement technology adopted by the Governor.
Ubani revealed that the technology has reduced the cost of road construction, adding that by the end of the first tenure of the Governor, all the issues in Aba would have been dealt with.
The contractor who handled the project, Engr. Enyinnaya Mba, thanked the Governor for the opportunity given his company to display the cement technology which is now widely used in road construction in Aba and assured that roads done using the technology would stand the test of time.
The Governor also inspected the progress of work on other on-going road projects in parts of Aba metropolis, including Ochefu, Umule, Ukaegbu, among others.
