All Progressive Congress (APC) North-West Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, today described the suspension of Senator Representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, by the state party executive as illegal.

He said as far as the national party is concerned the Senator remains a bonafide member of the party.

The APC Zonal Chairman was in Kaduna as part of a reconciliation committee set up by the national leaders to intervene on the current crisis in Kaduna APC.

Alhaji Inuwa also warned the aggrieved party members to desist from media campaign against each other.

News Express recalls that there was a purported letter from Senator Shehu Sani’s ward in Tudun Wada suspending him from engaging in the party for 11 months. However, the party ward chairman later came out to distance himself from the suspension saga, saying the letter was forged.

Shehu Sani’s camp has accused the State Government of inciting party members against him.

Alhaji Inuwa said: “We are in Kaduna to meet with the party elders in the state on ways to address the problem. Whatever the case maybe, there are rules and regulations of the party that is bound on every party member.

“Therefore, as far as the national body of this great party is concerned, the suspension of Shehu Sani from the party is illegal based on the fact that right procedure was not followed. Even the ward chairman wrote to national body to say the suspension letter was forged.”

On whether there was a faction in Kaduna APC, the Zonal Chairman said: “As far as we know, there is no faction in the party in the state.”

In his remarks, Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed, who spoke on behalf of the elders of the party in the state, expressed happiness for the intervention, saying it was timely.

He also emphasised on the fact that there was no faction in the state.

Senator Shehu Sani, who was at the meeting, said he will abide by the cease fire agreement.

He also said he has no problem with the State Governor’s policies, only that there are people around him that always want to create problem between the two of them.
