Expect moderate visibility across Nigeria today —NiMET

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Monday, January 11, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: The northern cities are not likely to have remarkable change in visibility values. Places like Maiduguri, Nguru, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Yola will experience moderate visibility range of 2-5km due to dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 14-19oC.

CENTRAL STATES: No significant changes are expected over the area as dust haze will keep Abuja, Minna, Bida, Nassarawa, Ilorin and Makurdi between visibilities of 2-5km during the period. Night time temperatures is predicted to be between 18-21oC.

SOUTHERN STATES: Hazy conditions are likely in the morning over cities like Ibadan, Akure, Enugu, Oshogbo, Awka and Ikom. In the afternoon/evening, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Yenagoa, Warri, Lagos, Benin and Eket will experience cloudiness with chances of isolated rain showers during period. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 23-25oC.

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
