The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Sunday, January 3, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Maiduguri, Nguru, Kano, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto and Yola will experience further reduction in visibility (1-3km) due to Dust Haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-15oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Dust haze conditions are expected with visibility range of 2-3km, over cities like Abuja, Minna, Bida, Nassarawa, Ilorin and Makurdi. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 13-17oC.

SOUTHERN STATES: Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin, Warri, Calabar and Yenagoa will experience dust haze with visibility range of 2-5km. Other cities include Ibadan, Osogbo, Ondo, Akure, Awka, Enugu, Owerri and Onitsa. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 13-22oC.

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks. Flight operations may be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the country.
