The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Tuesday said it was working round the clock towards ensuring adequate security across the country’s airports, particularly during the Yuletide.
The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mr Yakubu Dati, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said: “We have already strengthened the safety and security within and around the airports.
“We want to assure users of our airports that we are working round the clock and we are reviewing our strategy on a daily basis because security is always a destination.
“Whenever there is a threat, you begin to see how you can map out a strategy to curtail that because we are not unmindful of the developments across the globe.”
Dati said part of the security strategy was the relocation of most car parks from the airport terminal.
According to him, a joint task force drawn from various security agencies has also been constituted to patrol within the airport secured area, particularly the air side.
“We also have the electronic surveillance system, we have the body scanners, we have the baggage scanners and we have closed circuit television cameras around the airport,” he said.
Dati said that other measures put in place could not be disclosed in order not to compromise the security at the airports.
He said that FAAN was committed to the safety of passengers and other airport users. (NAN)
