The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has raised a fresh alarm, alleging that there’s an underground plot to compromise the recruitment of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Adhoc staff, particularly those that will be in charge of ensuring that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) machine works.
The CUPP also cried out that there’s a list of names of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are supposed to be working with the collaborators.
The opposition, in a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere said that the list will be enclosed and delivered to reliable courier companies and would be mailed to media houses when the posting is done so as to confirm to Nigerians that the intelligence at his disposal about the compromise was credible.
The opposition, which raised alarm about these developments, exposed the plot of the Imo state government against the 2023 general election.
CUPP fingered the Imo State Government for blocking the investigation into the voter registration compromise popularly called Omuma Magic, which was revealed by its spokesman sometime in September last year.
The Opposition said that despite the evidence now in the public domain and petitions to the relevant government agencies, no investigation has been done and the Imo State Government has been working overtime to ensure there is no investigation.
The CUPP hailed the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for conducting an internal investigation and identifying at least twenty-five of its staff who were involved in the Omuma Magic and are currently facing disciplinary actions in the Commission.
The opposition also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to demand from the heads of security agencies an investigation report of his allegations in order to prove that there are people in government, who are sabotaging the effort of the President to fulfil his promise of ensuring a free, fair and credible 2023 election.
