The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has alerted the general public to be security conscious following an intelligence report that Boko Haram insurgents are planning to attack the nation’s capital, Abuja.
A statement signed by the Director, Security Services FCTA, Mr Mohammed M. Mohammed, said: “Boko Haram’s main targets are worship centres and markets, with the use of young girls as members of aid groups to carry out their planned attacks.”
Mr Mohammed added: “I am communicating this information to all mosques, churches and markets across the FCT for extra vigilance, particular unknown persons dressing as aid workers loitering around the worship areas and markets.”
He therefore advised that the information be given widest and fastest circulation to enable worshippers to be vigilant and curb the menace of insurgency in the territory and beyond.
