The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Ademola Adeniyi, has unequivocally told the Federal Government and the Department of State Services that the order of the court granting former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd.), permission to travel must be obeyed.
The court gave the ruling minutes ago, telling the Federal Government to wait for Dasuki to return from his medical journey before his trial can continue.
Dasuki headed back to the court to enforce his fundamental rights after he was prevented from travelling despite court order. His counsel, Joseph Daudu, complained that his client’s right to freedom is being infringed upon.
Counsel to the Federal Government, Shuaibu Labaran, had told the court that Dasuki refused to honour an invitation sent to him on November 4 to appear before the DSS, an allegation which Dasuki has since rubbished.
The court granted Dasuki’s prayer for a mandatory order directing the DSS to remove all human and non-human barricades laid around his residence.
He said that this has hindered the accomplishment of the orders of the court which gave him permission to travel abroad for medical attention.
