Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has tasked the newly elected executives of the Corps Cooperative and Thrift Society to remain upright and modest in their way of life.

He handed down the task during the inauguration ceremony of the newly executives led by Superintendent of Corps Pai Ahmed Abdullahi. He stressed that the success of every leader lies on trust and accountability to the people.

Gana charged them to see their election as the wish of the Co-operators for change, and they are duty bound to serve the people faithfully by justifying their election and not to see themselves as lords.

He advised the executives not to live above their means by trying to enrich themselves to the detriment of others but to remain sincere and committed to the cause of the co-operators.

He reiterated that, one of the concerns of the leaders should be on how to move the Corps forward as 80% of the personnel are co-operators. He tasked the Executives in the need for continuity especially in the housing and the Micro Finance Bank projects of the past executives.

Gana appreciated the outgoing Executives led by Commandant Abi David for all they have put in place as welfare packages for the Co-operators: notably the Housing Projects, Car Loan Schemes, mini mart and mostly the actualisation of the NSCDC Micro Finance Bank billed to commence operation soon.

However, the elected President of the Cooperative Society Pai Ahmed Abduallahi commended the efforts of the Commandant General in taking cooperative matter seriously as well as his predecessor for the record of achievements made and he assured of continuity in delivering the dividends of democracy and change to the Co-operators.

He pledged on behalf of the new EXCO to remain committed in visualising the dream of the Commandant General in ensuring affordable housing for personnel and other social amenities as part of the Corps welfare scheme by giving assurance that they will not betray the confidence repose on them.

Also, the outgoing legal adviser Commandant John Ahwen reiterated their desire and zeal to work with the new Excos by offering professional advice by ensuring at the end of their tenure, the record of achievement as they are poised to take off immediately with the operation of the Micro Finance Bank.

The Corps helmsman in recognising the efforts and performance of the outgoing EXCO, presented them with a certificate of merit.
