 •Marauding bandits

The roads from Daki-Takwas to Zuru, Koko-Mahuta-Dabai and Zuru have been under the control of bandits. They are marauding into the villages of Dan-Alhaji, Gadar Zaima, Dan-Marke, and many villages and towns of Danko chiefdom.

Last night they sporadically shot guns in Dan-Alhaji and took some people for ransom, while on Saturday afternoon, the bandits invaded Kele, Matseri, Tungar Yawo, and many villages of Fakai chiefdom – making the road from Koko to Dabai also unsafe for travelers.

The seemingly safe Kontagora to Zuru road is deplorable to an emergency state and no one can determine the movement of the marauding bandits.

They killed the son of the Emir of the late Sarkin Kontagora on the road. And if you think Birnin Yauri to Zuru is safe, the bandits once took students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri.

The villages of Rijau and Gulbin Boka have been under frequent attack by bandits. Thus, Zuru Emirate is under siege, and no single way to Zuru is safe.

The number of security agencies and particularly, the military personnel in the area and their operations, must be increased to contain the seemingly unending invasion of Zuru Emirate by the marauding bandits that have claimed many lives, leaving many victims with bullet wounds, rustling cattle, making farming impossible in some villages, displacing tens of thousands of people, and kidnapping people for ransom in the area.

The military is supposed to be in constant operation on the roads to provide adequate security needed and they should also be proactive in their operations to thwart the bandits’ demonic plans.

It is unacceptable that Zuru Emirate is under siege. Everything humanly possible should be done fast to end that siege!
