Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has threatened to sack heads of parastatals in the state over poor performance.
The governor issued the threat during a meeting with heads of some parastatals that are owing about three months staff salary. He said his administration would restructure the parastatals and appoint the right persons to head them for maximum productivity.
Gov. Okorocha further disclosed that the state government would assume the responsibility to pay the workers of those affected parastatals and challenged them to be self-sufficient.
He advised the parastatals to submit the names of their staff along with their passport photographs and appointment letters to enable the state government carry out a verification exercise.
He spoke of his administration’s determination to eradicate poverty in the state and urged workers to key into its commercialisation policy.
