Man swindles girlfriend, uses her N2m to marry another woman

A man identified as Akeem Bello who is in his 30, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding his girlfriend, Olaotan Oladapo, of  the sum of N2 million.
Akeem allegedly used the same money to marry another lady.
The suspect was arraigned on two count charges of fraud and obtaining by false pretence.
The offence was committed between March and December this year.
Their relationship, according to the details of the case, started in 2018.
Police prosecutor, Inspector A. Ajeniwa informed the court that the defendant began defrauding the victim in 2020 by converting the money she sent to him from overseas to his personal use.
Inspector Ajenwa alleged that Akeem engaged another lady and eventually got married to her, using the said money.
Ajeniwa said the womb of the victim has been damaged due to series of abortions done for the defendant.
He said the offences were contrary to sections 383 and 421,390 (b and c) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37. Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Presiding Magistrate, C.M Akinwumi ordered thatbthe defendant be remanded at the Olokuta Custodial Centre.
November 2nd, 2022 is the next adjourned date for further hearing of the matter.
