The 7th Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award ceremony will take place at the Grand Ballroom, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, tomorrow, October 30, 2015, the organisers have said.

The Golden Pen Award was inaugurated seven years ago by Nigerian Breweries to promote professional and objective reportage of events in Nigeria. The award is also meant to honour journalists who abide by the fine ethics of the journalism profession.

“Since its inception, the award has produced six winners in the Journalist of the Year category and several others in the Photo Journalist of the Year category. We are indeed encouraged by the quality of winning entries over the years and we are proud that this award has so far achieved its objective of encouraging professionalism in reporting,” the organisers said yesterday in a statement issued in Lagos.

“This year, we sustained the expanded focus for the award, to draw attention to issues relating to critical sectors of the Nigerian economy. We believe that our choice of Education, Youth Empowerment and Talent Development as the focus of this year’s award will help to set an agenda for improvements in the lives of our country’s teeming youth population,” the statement said.
