Globally-recognised Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification in Nigeria will be making a historic debut at the 47th Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN) Annual National Conference. Billed to hold from October 14 – 16 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the conference will be a gathering of human resources professionals in Nigeria and abroad.

Mr. Ron Mgbatogu, Communications Director at Skills Farm Limited, SHRM’s Nigerian partner, said the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management will be at the conference to educate Nigerian HR professionals on the best routes to HR Certifications and in particular give attendees a firsthand guidance to help HR professionals prepare for SHRM’s new competency-based certification – the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials.

“SHRM will be on ground at the conference to interact with HR practitioners who wish to advance their careers through an internationally acclaimed certification by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Everything Disc (Wiley), guide HR practitioners who are keen on re-certification, introduce the Financial Assistance Programme to HR professionals, and enlist members to the SHRM forum,” Mgbatogu said.

In May 2014, SHRM announced that it was developing a new certification based on the SHRM Competency Model, which identifies eight behavioural competencies and one technical competency – HR Knowledge or HR Expertise. HR professionals need this certification to advance their careers and improve their effectiveness in the workplace.

“Partnering with Skills-Farm Limited, SHRM will help HR professionals in Nigeria, as it does in other parts of the world, to acquire both the competencies and knowledge essential for success in today’s global economy,” said J. Robert Carr, SHRM’s Senior Vice President for Membership, Marketing and External Affairs. He said: “SHRM is committed to ensuring that the certifications our certificants receive are recognised as best-in-class to distinguish them in the marketplace; we regard the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP as the new standard in certification for the HR profession.”

With the help of outstanding certification preparation tools from SHRM, professionals are equipped to prepare for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exams. These tools are based on a single, comprehensive SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge that are relevant worldwide and will give professionals the knowledge, skills and competencies that guarantee them recognition anywhere their careers take them.

SHRM focuses on making sure HR professionals seek and attain top-class certification through the SHRM certification preparation programs which are designed to maximise success – both on the examinations as well as in career development.

Skills-Farm Limited is offering every delegate who visits their stand a chance to win a Lenovo Ideapad in a draw which will hold on Friday to close the conference. The delegates also will be introduced to the financial assistance program for the SHRM certification examinations.
