Senate fixes date for screening of ministerial nominees

Nominees for the appointment as ministers will be screened from next week Tuesday, October 13.

Senate Presdent, Dr. Bukola Saraki, made this known morning on the floor of the upper chamber afetr reading out the 21 names of ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The list was contained in a sealed envelope submitted late on Wednesday, September 30, by President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari, accompanied by Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang.

The country’s constitution nakes it mandatory for each of the 36 states to produce a minister. President Buhari is expected to submit the remaining names ahead of the screening exercise.

The 21 names read out this morning on the floor of the red chamber are Audu Ogbeh, Hadi Sidika, Abubakar Malami, Kayode Fayemi, Ibrahim Usman Jibril, Udoma Udoh Udoma, Ahmen Musa, Kemi Adeosun, Suleiman Adamu, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Abdulraman Dambazau, Aisha Alhassan, Lai Mohammed, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Solomon Dalong, Chris Ngige,

Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola, Amina Ibrahim, Udoma Udo, and Audu Ogbeh.
