The Imo State Government has inaugurated a technical committee headed by Mr. Vitalis Nwokocha to actualise the relocation of all mechanics and spare parts dealers to Avu permanent site in Owerri west local government of the state.
Inaugurating the committee in his Cabinet Office, along Sam Mbakwe road, Owerri on Tuesday, Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, charged them to ensure that all Technicians and Allied Auto Workers subscribe to the vision of the Governor of the state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha on the development and relocation of all to Avu Mechanic Village.
Continuing, Sir Ejiogu directed the committee to do everything possible to ensure that all practicing Auto workers were gathered together and issued with an application forms in a bid to achieve owner-occupier results, maintaining that the committee would liaise with government consultants towards producing a suitable design of workshops and ancillary facilities for a proposed Avu Mechanic Village.
According to the SGI, the committee is expected to develop a database of all mechanics and allied auto workers to ensure effective communication and feedback, saying that they would produce a draft post-project management blueprint for smooth takeoff, as well as a task force to ensure compliance with relocation program and timeline for all practicing mechanics within the municipality.
Speaking on behalf of other members, chairman of the committee, Mr. Nwokocha thanked the state government for finding them worthy, and assured of their readiness to carry out their functions diligently.
He maintained that every member of the committee would be carried along in ensuring that they performed creditably well, while advising all mechanics in the state to comply as soon as possible instead of showing any sign of indifferent with government directives.
