The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday said it had arrested a 37 year-old vulcaniser for allegedly stealing three bags of rice.

The Commandant , Mr. Muhammad Gidado, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that the suspects (name withheld) was arrested in Arawa village of Auyo local government area.

Gidado said that the suspect, along with an accomplice now at large, connived and stole the three bags of 100 kg local rice from the residence of one Malam Baita around 2am on Saturday, September 5.

He explained that some vigilant members of the community, who noticed the presence of the suspects at that odd hour, alerted his staff operating in the area.

“Our informants said two men were seen with three bags of local rice in Arawa village at about 2am.

“So our undercover operatives were directed to the location, where they arrested one suspect who confessed to have stolen it along with an accomplice.”

The commandant said the corps had launched a man-hunt to arrest the other suspect.

He said that they would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations. (NAN)
