Hisbah seizes over 200 cartons of alcohol in Kebbi

Hisbah corps in Kebbi State have seized no fewer than 255 cartons of alcohol of different brands.

The operation, which was done, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi when the Hisbah operatives, acting on a tip-off, swooped on the old market and impounded the banned products loaded in a vehicle.

Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Kebbi commandant of the Hisbah Board, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed, said the board would continue to enforce the law until people learn to respect the state.

He noted that Kebbi had banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in all parts of the state, with the exception of barracks and similar outposts.

Efforts to speak to the owner of the seized items, Mr. Onoh Christian, were unsuccessful. (The Guardian)
