Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is bereaved; The Lille of France goaltender has lost his dear mother.

As a result of the sad loss, Enyeama has opted out of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming fixture against The Taifa Stars of Tanzania.

In a moving Instagram message to Nigerian fans, Enyeama (capped 101 times by the Eagles) said: “So sorry I won’t make it out there to wear this shirt.

“So sorry that I won’t be standing there singing the anthem of my sweet NIGERIA.

“I wish that this darkness didn’t come in daylight. I wish that I could turn back the hand of time. I wish, I just wish that I could take away this pain. Let the rain wash away this pain.”

The Eagles trip to Tanzania this weekend would be Sunday Oliseh’s debut as coach of the Nigerian senior national team.
