Two suspected armed robbery kingpins in Warri, Delta State, have been killed during a sporadic gun duel with a team of policemen at the weekend.

News Express gathered that the hoodlums were in a convoy of about three cars on a mission to attack innocent residents before nemesis caught up with them.

Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the death of the suspects and explained that a police patrol team attached to the Area Commander’s Office, Warri, while on routine patrol along Upper Erejuwa Road, sighted the suspects in a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, a Toyota Avalon and other cars moving in a convoy.

She said on suspecting the movement of the hoodlums, the detectives gave them a hot chase to Cemetery Road in Warri, where the suspects on sighting the police officers engaged them in a gun duel, noting that in the gun battle that followed, two of the robbers were shot and arrested but others escaped.

However, the injured suspects died on the way to hospital. Items recovered from the robbers, Kalu said, include two vehicles they used for the operation, three handsets, two identity cards, two cut to size guns, ten live bullets and five expended ones.

She said investigation is on while police are on red alert to arrest the fleeing suspects.
