The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, has restated his commitment to restore the age-long value system of obedience to God and the constituted authorities, “through sound moral training for the younger generations.”

Governor Emmanuel noted that this was the panacea for emergence of a greater Akwa Ibom, which, he said, “his administration seeks to achieve.”

The governor, who stated this at the Assemblies of God Church, located on Utang Lane in Uyo, where he attended a youth prayer conference, remarked that “when God is the prime focus in the affairs of human, there is bound to be a remarkable difference”, and that “Akwa Ibom, a state named after God, must be a torchbearer in development and prosperity.”

He wondered why some youths pay allegiance to false gods and engaged in occult practices and prostitution which tends to derail them from accomplishing their goals in life.

He expressed his happiness that some responsible youths have toed the path of salvation by organising prayer conferences to seek divine intervention in their affairs, the state and the nation.

He stressed that he would “derive satisfaction when the younger generations, who would be managers of the newly developed state, turn to Christ.”

The Uyo District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Patrick Offiong, who preached on: “Taking Your Future in Your Hands”, advised youths to shun evil deeds and renew their faith in God, as Christians.

Rev. Offiong reminded them of the examples of the three Hebrew youths, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, as well as the Babylonian Daniel “who stood their ground in the face of persecution, and our God rewarded them with outstanding successes.”

The clergyman, who expressed his delight at the turn of events by youths in the state in serving the true God, prayed God to “use them as points of contacts for the salvation of souls of other youths in the state and mankind generally.”
