Super Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh has reportedly met with fast-rising Liverpool star Jordan Ibe to convince him to choose Nigeria over England.
ESPN reports that the duo met on Wednesday in England at Liverpool’s Melwood training base, as Oliseh plots his way to success as Super Eagles coach.
Ibe, whose dad David is Nigerian, enjoyed a good run last season with English Premier League campaigners Liverpool, playing as a wing back.
The 19-year-old Nigerian is also comfortable as an out and out winger, and following a successful pre-season with his club, there are high expectations that he would be one of Liverpool’s main players this season.
Ibe has represented England at the youth level but is still eligible to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles because he hasn’t featured for England’s senior national team, the Three Lions.
From the look of things, there’s a tug of war brewing now between Nigeria and England for Ibe, as England are also highly keen on having the lad in their senior team’s set-up.
