Following the arrest of popular Nigerian actor, Chiwetalu Agu for putting on Biafra regalia in Anambra State, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of turning Nigeria into an animal kingdom.

MASSOB in a statement made available to newsmen by its Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, regretted that Nigeria under the current government has drifted to a tyrannical state.

It was reported on Thursday, October 7, 2021, that the veteran actor was arrested by Nigerian Army troops at Upper Iweka Road, Onitsha, Anambra for allegedly soliciting support for Biafra agitators.

Reacting to the inhuman arrest, MASSOB described the incident as insensitive, unprofessional and tribalistic.

The group criticized the Nigerian military for its disdain for the fundamental human rights of citizens and matters concerning the Igbos.

The organization grieved that the army head command knew that the veteran actor committed no crime that warranted the torture he received from their overzealous and unexposed junior officers deployed to terrorize the people of Biafra.

The statement read “Chief Chinwetala Agu is a courageous and eloquent Igbo statesman. He deserved to be celebrated and honoured, though we condemned the barbaric assault on him by President Mohammadu Buhari’s Fulani foot soldiers at upper Iweka Onitsha.

“MASSOB is proud of Chief Chinwetalu Agu for openly identifying with his people in their suffering. He is a great hero of the Biafra nation,” the statement said.
