“An American senator told me that a Nigerian minister under the PDP cornered 6 billion dollars which, according to him, even in American standards was earth-quaking.”
That was Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole narrating how an American senator expressed shock over the monumental corruption allegedly committed by some officials of the immediate past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government under the watch of erstwhile President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking with journalists yesterday in Abuja Oshiomhole, who was a part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s entourage that recently visited the United States of America last week, said that American government officials spoke of how appalled they were by what they perceived to be the thriving corruption of members of the former Nigerian Government.
The governor spoke positively of President Buhari’s US trip, describing it as an “eye opener.” He said the American government is now more disposed towards doing business with Nigeria because it trusts that President Buhari has zero tolerance for corruption.
Oshiomhole said that American government officials believe that a US-Nigerian cooperation will be good for re-positioning Africa.
