Senator Uche Ekwunife (Anambra Central Senatorial District) has expressed her resolve to promote women’s economic empowerment and development programmes through robust legislative engagements.
She expressed her desire to continue advocating for women’s rights to social, economic and political opportunities, saying that women have always demonstrated ingenuity and excellence in their various fields of endeavours.
Ekwunife made this known at Nri Town Hall when she was hosted in the community by the women under the aegis of Eyom Nri.
While giving assurance that she would continue to offer unrivalled representation and attract the dividends of democracy to constituents, the lawmaker hailed members of the entire community for their continuous and unflinching support in her political sojourn.
On the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Ekwunife said: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the political platform of choice for Ndi Anambra.
“The party is positioned in strengthening democracy and economic opportunities in the state. I encourage Ndi Anambra to ensure that their votes count. Nobody will be allowed to rig the election.
“Good governance has no religious colouration. Anambra people are yearning for security, quality education, affordable healthcare services, infrastructural development, developmental policies amongst others.”
She called on residents of the state to be security conscious and report suspicious activities happening in their immediate environment to the appropriate quarters.
In her remarks, the President General of Women Wing, Mrs. Anthonia Uke, extolled the contributions of Ekwunife which she said was aimed at promoting women economic and development programmes.
She described Ekwunife as the most accessible Senator in Nigeria, saying that achievements stand tall amongst her contemporaries.
While describing the lawmaker as the best the Central senatorial zone had produced, Uke promised that the women of Nri community would always queue behind her political aspirations.
