A director in Abia State Ministry of Education, Wogu Alozie, has been arrested for collecting N500 from students in the state without the approval of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Alozie is alleged to have signed for the Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, Eze Ajuzie, without the consent of the Permanent Secretary and written letters to primary and secondary schools, mandating them to pay the said N500.

Alozie is currently in custody of the police who are working to unravel the syndicate, the governor’s chief of staff ACB Agbazuere said in a statement.

Ikpeazu has warned that all those who pad salaries or hide under the cover of government to defraud people will meet the full wrath of the law.

It would be recalled that just recently the governor of the state sacked two of his appointees over poor performance.

In a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Barr Chris Ezem, the government directed the removal of Jerry Awa in charge of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency Ikwuano Local Government Area and  Engr Uzoma Asiegbu, Deputy General Manager, Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency.

According to the Statement, the State Governor directed that the General Manager of ASEPA, Eze Okwulehie, to immediately take charge of the Ikwuano area, ensure immediate evacuation of refuse within the area, as well as engage street sweepers to clear grasses and dispose of dirt along Aba Road through Ceramics area to Old Umuahia.
