Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of understanding, peace and unity among themselves in their dealings.
Idris in a message to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration said no nation will move forward amidst crises and suspicion among one another.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Kogi State, to extend these gestures to one another, saying that this will ensure and enhance good living.
The former governor advised Muslims to extend the celebration irrespective of creed, religion and other differences, stating that it pays to live for one another.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to both Muslems and Christians to pray for Nigeria as better days are coming.
Similarly, the Kogi State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2019 elections, Alhaji Sheik Ibrahim Jibrin, has appealed to the people of the state to imbibe the lessons of the occasion through obedience and sacrifice to constituted authority as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
In his message delivered from his country home, Anyigba, Kogi State, he charged both leaders and followers “to toe the divine line as demonstrated by the prophet of God that formed the hallmark of this celebration”.
“I urge the Muslim Ummah in Kogi State and Nigerians generally to imbibe the lessons of dedication and obedience to higher authority as demonstrated in Prophet Ibrahim’s preparedness to sacrifice his only son in obedience to the instructions of Allah.
Islam is a religion of peace. There’s nothing Quaran teaches more than Love, Peace, Unity and peaceful coexistence,” Alhaji Jibrin said.
He advised Muslims to always use religious injunctions as a guide to their daily lives, challenging them to live above aboard according to the teaching of Prophet Mohammed so as to enable peaceful co-existence among one another irrespective of religious differences.
