Kidnapped Emir of Kajuru, Kaduna State, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, on Monday regained his freedom, one day after his kidnap with 10 members of his family.

Spokesperson of Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the release to News Express this evening.

He did not say wheather ransom was paid to secure the emir's release and the reasons his 10 family members are still with the bandits.

The emir's release came hours after a ransom of N200 million was demanded for the release of the captives, who were kidnapped in the wee hours of Sunday.

News of the ransom demand was disclosed by spokesperson of the Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar on Monday.
According to Mr Abubakar, the bandits also gave assurances that all the victims are in good condition and were not being molested.

He said the council was appealing to the bandits to release the 85-year-old monarch and his relatives unconditionally, especially giving his fragile health condition.
