New controller of corrections, Onokohwomomo, assumes duty in Enugu

A new Controller of Corrections, Mr Godwin Onokohwomomo, has assumed office in the headquarters of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Enugu State Command.

Onokohwomomo, who is coming from NCoS Zone G Command in Benin, took over from outgone Control of Corrections in the state, Mr Joseph Emelue.

Emelue had been redeployed to take over as the acting Zonal Commander of NCoS Zone F Command in Ibadan.

Speaking to newsmen after taking over formalities in Enugu on Thursday, Onokohwomomo said that he would maintain the high level of discipline within the Command.

He said that he would sustain the culture of cleanliness of all custodial facilities and institute a formidable management team that would work for up lift of custodial facilities within the state.

According to him, my predecessor had done marvelously well in the Command and I will follow his foot-steps and add more innovation to further up lift the Command and its custodial facilities.

“I am someone that believes in hard work and dedication as well as discipline. These traits of mine are what I will instill in the rank and file of the Command.

“As we maintain the cleanliness of the custodial centres and its facilities; I will seek further ways to improve and give the welfare of the inmates in our custodial centres top priority,” he said.

Onokohwomomo said that his administration would synergise with other security agencies and stakeholders to improve the fortune and wellbeing of the Command.

“As soon as I settle down, I will reach out to other sister security agencies, stakeholders and host communities to see how best we can partner.

“The partnership of course will be of mutual benefit between the Command and various groups and stakeholders,” he assured.
