Diaspora Security Forum suggests solution to recurrent Kaduna violence

The leadership of Nigeria Diaspora Security (NDSF) has advised Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to organise a ‘Peace Youth Leadership Summit’ to bring together key youth stakeholders in the state to sign up to peaceful resolution of community concerns.

NDSF, in a statement issued in London and signed by its Coordinator, Temitope Olodo Esq., said, “Furthermore, the administration should establish a ‘Community Tension Monitoring Centre’ working directly with community leaders and security agencies to ensure preventive and protective initiatives are available to stop violent extremism.”

The group also welcomed Nigerian Army’s recent recognition of officers and men that fought in the frontline against Boko Haram terrorists.

It said that last Thursday, June 25, Nigerian security elite in the United Kingdom observed a minute silence at the Nigerian High Commission, London, during the Nigeria Security Summit.

NDSF, meanwhile commended the decision of Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Adamu Abubakar, to set up an investigative panel following Amnesty International’s report alleging human rights abuses by troops in the on-going war against terror.

“It is a good sign and NDSF is calling on Nigerian Army to immediately ensure that all military personnel assigned to North-East Nigeria to fight Boko Haram should undergo one day mandatory human rights training,” the forum said in the statement sent by e-mail to News Express.
