The South East Governors’ Forum has condemned the gruesome murder of a former political aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak in Owerri on Sunday, also appealed for calm.

Recall that Gulak was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo State on Sunday while he was on his way to Abuja from Owerri.

The southeast governors in a communique released by its chairman, Gov David Umahi after a meeting on Monday to tackle the rising security challenges in the region, commiserated with the immediate family of Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, the government and people of Adamawa State over the unfortunate killing.

The governors’ forum said it stands with Gov Hope Uzodinma and the security agencies in their efforts to unravel the masterminds of the killing.

The governors while commending President Buhari and Governors from the North for their understanding in the face of the unfortunate murder of their son, assured them of their commitment in unravelling the masterminds of the killing.

The governors also sympathized with the families of all those who lost their lives during the moment of violent hostilities by bandits in South East, adding that it shall leave no stone unturned in tracking and bringing to justice all those involved in the armed banditary that is currently ravaging the region.

The forum, however, called for calm, urging members of the public to exercise restraint and allow the Security Agencies to continue with their investigations with the assurances that all those who have a hand in the brutal murder of Alhaji Ahmed Gulak and other killings in the Zone would be brought to justice.
