A middle-aged man on Thursday, May 6, 2021, lost his life when a rival cult group shot and killed him in his shop at the popular Iheorji Market in Aba, the commercial city of Abia State.

The victim, Henry Egbuta, said to be his mid-twenties, was reportedly trailed by a rival group to his shop located in the market and severally shot by men suspected to belong a deadly gang who for some time now have been in the business of eliminating other opposing groups in the commercial city.

According to an eye witness, who actually helped to convey the late Henry’s corpse to the mortuary, “at around 1pm that fateful Thursday, we saw some strange fellows in the market who came shooting our neighbour, like what you see in the movies, and before you know what was going on, Henry lay down in a pool of his own blood.”

To him, this is strange since Henry had a thriving business.

At the Ndiegoro Police Station, no officer was willing to talk about or confirm the incident as the station is currently a no go area for members of the public due to the palpable security situation in the town.

News Express reports that cult-related killings have been going on in Aba for some time now. Earlier in the year, a barber, simply identified as Okam, was hunted down and killed in his salon at Aja Road, while an upcoming DJ was brutality mowed down at the Ogbor Hill axis of the city.
