The people of Ado-Ogbadibu Federal Constituency of Benue State on Thursday barricaded the Makurdi - Enugu Expressway, protesting the inauguration of Mr Hassan Saleh as a member of the House of Representatives.

The protesters, comprising of women, youths and men from the federal constituency, are alleging that Mr Saleh presented fake documents at the inauguration of the 8th Assembly.

Visiting the popular Otukpa axis on the road, the protesters told Channels Television that they would maintain the blockade until there is redress.

Mr Chris Abba had been issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as member-elect for the Ado/Ogbadibu Federal Constituency in Benue, as he was the sole candidate for the March 28, 2015 National Assembly election.

However, a court ruling nullified the election, allowing the incumbent, Mr Hassan Saleh to be sworn in on Tuesday as a member of the House.

While Mr Saleh insists that he is recognised as the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Chris Abba, armed with the Certificate of Return issued by INEC, disagrees with him saying the matter is still pending at the Court of Appeal.
