Afe Annang, a pan Annang socio-political organisation in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, has expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel over the appointment of Mr. Etekamba Umoren, as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In a message of commendation, from Ikot Ekpene, their headquarters, the organisation lauded the governor and described the appointment as “wise and well deserved,” saying that Mr. Umoren, their son, is a “renown technocrat, very hard working and God-fearing.”

They expressed their optimism that the new SSG, “will not let the new and popular administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, down.”

It would be recalled that Mr. Etekamba Umoren, who was recently appointed as the new SSG of the state, was sworn into office in Uyo at the weekend by Governor Emmanuel, amidst pomp and pageantry.

Performing the swearing-in ceremony, the governor explained that he was delighted to appoint Mr. Umoren as the SSG, “due to his tract records and unalloyed loyalty to the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State.”

He described the appointee as “a square peg in a square hole” and called on the people to give him the necessary support to enable him to succeed in his new task.

News Express reports that the state Executive Chambers, venue of the ceremony, was filled to capacity by guests, relations, friends and well wishers of the new SSG, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) big wigs, party supporters and other political stakeholders across the state.

Before this appointment, Umoren was the Chief of Staff to the immediate past Governor of the state, Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio (CON).

Mr. Etekamba Umoren is a graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State.
