Big Brother Africa star Karen Igho is leading a campaign against the recently introduced Blackberry Z10 being marketed in Nigeria as a premium handheld smart phone for high networth individuals, trendy youths and accomplished professionals.

The phone sells for N100,000 (about $650) and is being aggressively promoted by Nigeria’s major telecom operators, especially Airtel and Globacom.

But the Blackberry Z10 is not worth the hype, according to Igho, winner of 2011 edition of the Big Brother Africa reality show.

“Don’t waste your money on Z10 not worth it,” she tweeted recently from her Twitter handle @Karen_Igho.

The continental reality TV star provided her reasons in subsequent tweets, saying of the Blackberry Z10: “It is more like an iphone.”

She also tweeted: “U will cut your sim then u will buy loads of app dat are meant to be free e.g whatsap” and “All ha hype.”

At least one fan tweeting from the Twitter handle@OriginalAmebo agreed with the Big Brother star, saying: “I agree! RT @Karen_Igho: Don’t waste your money on Z10 not worth it.”

News Express reports that 29 years old Karen Igho, the first female winner of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, has 30,039 followers on Twitter.
