Acting Director General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Professor Armstrong Aduku Augustine Idachaba, was over the weekend honoured with an award of excellence for his contributions to the development of theatre arts and communication in Nigeria.

The award was conferred on the Director General by his former employer and students of Kogi State College of Education (KSCOE) Ankpa in Kogi State.

Prof Idachaba was a former lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts of the Institution until 1992, before he joined the services of NBC.

He was honoured after ‘AMOBONI’, a book he wrote 26 years ago, was reviewed and acted by students of the Theatre Arts of the College.

“AMOBONI’, which took a prominent stage in the late 90’s both in the national and international theatres, explores the world of the late legendary Attah Igala, HRH Ameh Oboni, the most popular Attah of Igala till date.

The play was directed by his former student, Ali Ojodale, now a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts of KSCOE. He said that the the review and act were aimed to give honour to whom it is due, saying that Prof Idachaba’s legacies will be a lasting one.

Among those who graced the occasion was a Nollywood actor and producer, Thompson Makolo Junior, who commended the erudite scholar and theatre magnet for a job well done after he identified some talents from the performed script.
